Block the apps. Zuckerberg and Musk are evil and they use our content against us. Blocking celebrities doesn't do much if the corporate overlords who plant them will just replace them with new ones who pretend to give a shit about what we care about whole selling us more shit we don't need.
Totally agree!! I haven’t used Facebook in years and quit Twitter last August! It is currently hard for me to quit IG atm because I follow all the Gazan journalists and Palestine accounts on there to keep myself updated on what’s happening on the ground and internationally since mainstream media does not update us at all on that but rather spit lies after lies to manufacture consent for this genocide!
I think the hardest part for us as consumers or audience until now, was letting go of the feeling that we were being represented by these people. They made us visible. Somehow, through their success, they made us count too. We thought they were our spokespeople, amplifying our voices. And then, when it mattered, they disappeared. What a betrayal! It's the trust we put in them, now broken, that makes it soo easy to hit "block".
Exactly! Representation has been sold to us as this amazing solution to make marginalised people like us be visible, it truly felt great but just like you said "when it mattered, they disappeared", because at the end of the day, those celebrities are not here to challenge the status quo, they're reinforcing it to benefit from it. Masks fell off and people got tired of the talk without the walk!
