Political violence happens everyday
Our ruling class made it very clear that they only view political violence being a problem when they are at the receiving end of it. Yet, they enact their wrath onto us every single day.
Our western ruling class funnily joined forces a few days ago to condemn the shooting that happened at one of Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The same ruling class that has been overtly backing one of the most horrific and deadly political violence in Gaza and the West Bank. As well as around the world, for that matter. It wouldn’t be laughable if the ghouls ruling us weren’t so obvious about their penchant for white supremacy, and their disdain towards the common people.
I won’t go into details about what happened in Butler, at this point we are all too aware of what happened at that Trump rally. So much so, that at the same time, the genocidal state of Israel bombed a refugee camp in Al-Mawasi, killing and gravely injuring 150+ Palestinians as well as targeting a UNRWA schools, again killing dozens of innocent civilians who were seeking refuge. Even as I am writing this piece right at this moment, no western media has covered those atrocities. As a former journalist myself, I can’t express how furious and disgusted I have been of mainstream media because all it did is backing an actual genocide cheered on by our ruling class. Don’t get me wrong, I was very aware of all the restrictions and verbiage imposed on mainstream journalists, yet I can’t help but enrage at the blatant racism and disregard for human life forced upon us. White supremacy is a hell of a drug and a real instigator of the political violence we are subjected to every day of our lives.
Disregard of the common people is political violence
Our lives never mattered to the people we elect. It only does when they can tokenise our issues to get more votes, exceeding that, they don’t have much interest in our wellbeing. Actually the worse we get, the more vulnerable we are, the better they can control us. The political class needs us in a state of constant imploration for the bare minimum so they can keep their grip on us. Hence, our lives worsening.
Every time, we ask for necessities that could alleviate the suffering, we are gaslit into believing we are asking for the impossible. Imagine thinking, that the very citizens that run the economy of the country you rule, to be deprived of decency ? Ruling class logic is so illogical at all times, I wonder how did these ghouls manage to fly so high when they are just flat out incompetent ! I am still baffled at the fact that our ruling class wants us to make them as much profit as possible but can’t compute that for that to happen, we need to stay in good health ? I know exploitation is the bread and butter of this neoliberal capitalistic hellscape we live in, but still, why do we keep electing egotistical monsters who have no grasp on our every day lives?
We have been electing clowns, and here we are forced to watch the circus crumble. Liberals have shown their real intentions. From the UK Labour Party racism and LGBTQ-phobia, to Macron’s dictatorship by refusing to honour the law and elect a minister from the New Popular Front (party who won first place at the legislatives), to the US criminalising homelessness under a Democratic majority. If you do pay attention to the three parties I mentioned, they are in fact labelled centre-left. In other word, they are right-wing but don’t want to admit it fully. Being a centrist is truly a joke in a deeply unequal society! Usually, centrists describe themselves socially left-wing, economically right-wing, which is another joke in itself because the social is linked to the economical. Centrists are right-wing, with bumper stickers showing they have tolerance for you and your identity. This is also the reason why the West has been sinking deep into fascistic states. Our centrist governments have always been right-wing and sided with right-wing ideologies. And when you think of it, in a capitalistic society where financial capital is everything, saying out loud that you are economically right-wing, is a plain admission that you are against the common people. Right-wing economy is to benefit the corporations and the wealthy, not us. That disregard towards our wellbeing has been leading us to the downfall of our society. This is the political violence our ruling class don’t mind committing daily.
They have class solidarity, we have no class
The rich and wealthy have extremely strong class solidarity, and we don’t. This is our major weakness. When one of them gets targeted, they will flood social media with condemnations and “speedy recovery” notes, because at the end of the day, the petty fights they display is just for show, they don’t hate each other, but they need us to believe so because you know democracy and the illusion of choice? They need us to believe that our voices matter and that we actually get to have a choice in the trajectory of our wellbeing. Technically we do, but the choice is between slow descend to hell by the petty bourgeois or quick descend to hell with apparent wreckage by the overt fascists. We have been doomed from the very start, and they know it. Yet we keep drinking the Kool-Aid so they don’t have to worry : the culture war they created is keeping us busy. Look at us petty fighting about identity politics, when we have more in common in our struggles than the ruling class wants us to believe.

Distraction has been the best weapon they have been using. Because when we are distracted, we don’t have the time and luxury to see the violence they are enacting upon us. Using those very identity politics to pit us against one another and facilitate the process of that violence. We are doing the dirty work for them, and they laugh at us more than they want to help us. It is something that I have always found so odd, to see the political class, supposedly on the opposite sides of the political spectrum rubbing shoulders with each other and cracking jokes. I understand being cordial, but why is a liberal gleefully laughing his ass off with a fascist that believes that eugenics is great and that majority of the people on this planet deserve to disappear forever? The answer is: you are the company you keep, therefore liberals are also fascists with a degree of tolerance but worry not, they won’t shy away from enacting the same violence onto the common people, and lately they have been very much more overt about it.
Reclaiming our democracy
When the glass starts shattering and people start seeing through the slits, the ruling class trembles. They tremble because they see us uniting and realising who the common enemy is. Class unity is neoliberal capitalism worst nightmare! Because we outnumber the rich and wealthy, they know they don’t stand a chance at confronting us face to face. They know their days are numbered, so much so they are out there building bunkers for the end of times. Of course, the 1% isn’t going to openly admit that the doomsday they strongly believe in is a result of their fuckery. They talk about saving themselves from the end of times, but never utter who is responsible for the precipitation of our decline. But let us not act like fools, we know that they know that the real threat they see is the common people rising up against them. If they truly cared about the apocalypse caused by the climate crisis (that they are highly responsible for) they would have taken action long ago. Because everything was preventable, yet both of those events are likely to happen. The former will happen because we desperately need a revolution and a system change! I hope for the latter not to happen, to be totally frank. It should not, but we need the former event to rectify the disaster of the latter.
Now that the colonial wrath is turning onto us, you are seeing liberals feeling it. They still believe that voting for a demented president who can barely align two coherent sentences is going to save a democracy that has died decades ago. They fantasise about a Handmaid’s Tale future, as if it was not already a reality for women of colour, trans folks and known minorities. Yet they will rather blame individuals who have all the rights to refuse to choose between a president who has lost all sense of reality and another who just wanks over the fact of being idolised by people he despises from the bottom of his heart because he only sees them as filth and a ticket to the presidency for him and his corporate fellas. Liberals guilt-tripping the left for resisting fascism is very telling of them in two ways:
They have not yet understood that democracy has been non-existent for years. When the same two parties have had a monopoly on the national politics and diminish other political parties, this is called totalitarianism.
They don’t understand the proper definition of democracy. In a democratic state, people should have the freedom to vote for third parties if they feel like it. Guilt-tripping them and accusing them of allowing fascism is utterly ridiculous. Fascism has been there for years. Actually it has, thanks to the liberal party making space for it to thrive. It is a result of a faulty, already undemocratic system, not individuals not voting either soft fascism or hard fascism.
Now it is up to us. We need to make the revolution happen. Those living conditions are becoming unliveable for all of us, and have been for many of us already. Community building and organising is what we need to focus our energy on. People have been organising for years, find your local community, create one if need be. Political violence is about to get more violent, don’t let yourself be distracted by the ruling class condemning the violence against a fascist bloodied ear. If political violence is not the answer why are we always at the receiving end of it? If violence is not the answer why have they not halted an actual genocide happening before our eyes? Sorry to break it to you, but they do see violence as the answer. They practice it everyday. They just draw the line when it is directed at them. Don’t be fooled, keep organising, keep preparing because fighting back political violence won’t happen with us kneeling down and begging.
Let us reclaim a true and fair democracy for all!
I agree with a lot of your points, Ruth. We need more voices like yourself to keep speaking out and raising awareness among people so that they realize the whole system itself is the problem.
The way forward truly is to reform the whole system by supporting a third party that’s truly for the people.
