Fighting, for I love humanity
It requires immense love and regards to keep fighting, so even your enemies can be freed too.
I know we are all completely exhausted and in need of a breather. Every passing day, everything seems to get worse, it is a never ending nightmare. The empire is declining, and we are experiencing the consequences of decades of bad politics that consisted of crushing the working people and plundering resources for a tiny handful of wealthy imperialists.
Fascism is here. After decades of moderates paving the way for it to come back around, there we are. It is scary, it is frightening to witness in real time what we have been taught to fear, gaining prominence amongst the common people. We never learnt from our past, this is true because if we did, fascism would have been crushed and dusted a long time ago.
Progress in disguise
Western countries have always been fascists. When you think of it, you have to be pretty fascist to believe you are part of a superior race and have all the rights to destroy the lives of people you deem less than human because they don’t share the same features, skin colour, religion, political beliefs or culture. Fascism has always existed. It is nothing new. What was new is when it gained power less than 100 years ago in Europe, and it enacted the same unimaginable colonial horrors on its own population. We have studied and examined how evil fascism has always been, we were told that never again we would bring it back and endure it, yet all that is happening right now is fascists ghouls taking control in high position of power and about to enact their wildest dreams onto us. I keep wishing this is a very horrible nightmare that will go away when I wake up, but every morning, things seem to take a pretty bleak turn and it is scary. For the longest time, I truly believed that we were in the know of fascism and how it has ruined the lives of billions around the world. I really wanted to believe we were better than this, that we progressed in a direction that was guaranteeing every single life on this planet equality and worthiness… deep down I knew it was not the case, but I still hoped I would be proven wrong somehow.
I cannot express the abhorrent sentiment that is filling me up right now. As I check on elections happening across the West, it is just a chilling realisation that we indeed have been fucked many times over. Nobody is safe, not even the fervent working class racist who believes that once fascism will arrive, it will save them and fix all their problems. Even when it is emboldening them in their racism, they won’t be saved. Because fascism despises the common people, it despises them so much it will turn its wrath against them. But first it will use them to secure the golden tickets to the government and once on top, it will show its truest colour. Honestly, it always pains me to see working class westerners vote for parties that see them as filth but have indoctrinated them into believing that their plight is the result of immigration. A humanitarian catastrophe created by the same fascists. It pains me because those parties know what they are doing. They know their electorates won’t do their due research, that they can be easily duped and lied to. It also enrages me that those working people don’t seem to understand that despite years of struggling, things have not got better because the people at the top have no business bettering it as they are benefitting from our suffering.
It is not the immigrant below them that is making it hard to make ends meet. It is the well-suited gentleman who is full of greed and has decided to engross his profit by paying them less and less as life has got pricier and pricier. I wish those working people would have realised that. Because we do have an enemy, and he is not amongst us, he is above us. He is setting us back because progress is threatening his capital, and he knows under our weight, he can’t fight back, so he creates dissent to jeopardise any allyship between us. Maintain the status quo: divide and rule, here is what he stands for, and I hate to admit it, but he successfully did it and I wish the working people would have realised that too.
Help for the hopeless
Now is the time to build together, to organise and fight back. I know it is easiest said than done, but the ship has been sinking for a while, and it is only descending deeper. I am not a defeatist, it is just the reality we are facing. We have been dragged into a situation none of us have asked for. Every time we tried to stay afloat we were pushed aside and forced to see the ship falling, collapsing even. And our society has been designed this way, it is not a faulty error, this is what our ruling class has decided will be normal. The thing is, the bourgeoisie normal requires our society to dysfunction for our suffering to grow bigger and our desperation to slum deeper. They need us to lose hope and rely on them to be saved. But they are not going to save us, they don’t want us to be saved. They need us in constant struggle and despair, for we don’t unite and fight them back, because they know that the people united will never be defeated!
Hope is not lost, though. We are not yet defeated, we must transform our rage and anger into a powerful tool for solidarity because together is the only way we will bring fascism down! Change has always come from beneath, from the common people, from the oppressed and disadvantage. We outnumber our oppressors in a landslide, we need to unite forces and start working towards the dismantling of this neoliberal capitalist apparatus. A system designed to only benefit a small handful, is not a system that is sustainable and made to last, and it should not last. The West is already speed running its decline, all we have to do is push on the throttle and get it to crash completely. We are already being threatened of a bloody revolution. It is going to get worse before it gets better, this has always been the course of a system change because the profiteers will not let go without a fight. We truly need to organise.
People’s university of humanity
We have plenty of examples to look up to. When here in the West we are starting to feel the wrath of imperialism, the South has been subjugated to it for centuries. Their first encounter with imperialism was during what is glamourised to us as the Age of Discovery, when European bourgeois went to explore the world and decided to colonise the indigenous populations they encountered and deemed as inferior. Not only is this a prime example of cultural illiteracy, but it was the time that set the record on how the world will be: who will have the biggest piece of the pie and who will eat it first. Indigenous peoples from the Global majority had been taken captive to what will be the most tyrannical rule of the West. It was 500 years ago. They learnt to organise and fight back, despise their own governments working against them, they never backed down. They are engulfed with a will to taste the liberation they so crave. Look at how Bolivians came together in a span of a few hours to annihilate an attempted coup d’état! The second in 5 years against, yet another socialist government run by Luis Arce. We know that the West is behind the coup. Bolivia is rich in lithium, a mineral used for electric cars, the Tesla CEO villain even bragged about the US coup-ing whoever they want after Evo Morales, the then-democratically elected and first ever indigenous president was overthrown by the military in November 2019.
Same with the Kenyans who recently took the streets to protest the tax augmentation at a time when majority of Kenyans are already struggling to survive. They got the president to withdraw the tax increase, but they are still in the streets now demanding the president to resign. The protests started off on social media where people called for organising and full solidarity with one another, and this is truly inspirational. We have so much to learn from the people who have been fighting for their liberation for many years now. I restacked a paragraph from Joshua P. Hill’s piece titled “What a week” where I said:
As Aimé Césaire stated: “fascism is colonialism inward”. I know most of us are still heavily propagandised into believing that as westerners we are the epitome of knowledge but for the love of humanity, let’s set our colonial and racist ways aside and start listening and taking notes from the people [of] the global south on how to resist that imperial violence and smash it! It’s a group project we need to work on and now is time to truly learn and build solidarity and share tactics so let’s look at the ones who’ve been fighting for their freedom for decades, even centuries now!
The imperial institutions are not going to be on our side, they don’t serve us, they milk us dry to serve their own interests in return. We have no choice but to learn from each other: the streets, our house, the café, the library or your local community building is our university, and we are each other’s teachers. We share, connect and build together and in solidarity worldwide. Let’s make use of the global access we have with one another digitally to spread knowledge on how to better equipped ourselves for the future we are marching towards for. Let’s play the game with our own rules and let the bourgeois class being beaten at their own expense. No social media is going to censor or hinder our will to liberation.
A better world is possible, it is, I promise. It is out there waiting for us all, we just need to dare to go reach it because even though our ruling class keeps telling us, this is the world we have to put up with, this is not true. We are not meant to be hating each other, we are not meant to be suffering eternally, we are not meant to serve one and unique class. For we love humanity, we shall fight for it because it is there, and we deserve better than what we have been imposed.
Revolution is truly an act of love.
😭😭 a revolution is absolutely an act of love and it’s gonna take so so much pushing, but we truly have no choice. I hope the recent events have been enough to shake people out of complacency.
Yes!! Every word of this. I was going to restack with a highlighted portion. But..I simply can’t choose just one.
